EasyJet to introduce “bring your own seat” concept

EasyJet today announced their latest product improvement to deal with the growing costs and small margins in the aviation sector: “Bring your own seat”.

To save weight and an initial investment for the interior of new planes, EasyJet has come up with an unusual but clever plan. Passengers should bring their own seat if they want to fly with the UK based airline. A pilot performed in august this year has been very successful and EasyJet is planning to make this the default on all flights by the end of 2020.

All planes currently under order will receive the empty cabin with place for 200-300 seats. There is a premium area in the front that can be booked for extra money. EasyJet is planning to strip their entire fleet of the interior by the end of 2020.

When booking passengers will receive a list of approved seats together with the option to buy one. Seats starting at 10£ for a stool up to 2500£ for a fully FAA certified seat with seatbelt and cupholder.
