Wright Flyer grounded worldwide after discovery of potential issue

Authorities and airlines worldwide are grounding the Wright Flyer after a potential technical failure was found during a routine inspection.

A tiny crack in the aluminum crankcase might lead to an in-flight engine failure. Lightweight aluminum is essential in aircraft design development and remains a primary construction material for all types of aircraft. After discovery of the crack, authorities decided to ground the aircraft until the issues are resolved.

Airlines operating the Wright Flyer cancelled flights or are using replacement aircraft. It is unknown how many Wright Flyers are currently in operation.
